The “crystal” history of humanity!

The “crystal” history of humanity!

Η «κρυστάλλινη» ιστορία της ανθρωπότητας!

Praised… Worshipped… Honoured… Worn…

Used since the beginning of time by all the civilisations of Earth.

Crystals and semiprecious stones!

Their presence is everywhere and always vivid!

People used them since the Palaeolithic period, when the first tools and hunting weapons were made from obsidian, a volcanic material with vitreous texture. It is essentially volcanic glass, which people could easily find in nature, because of the geological activities of Earth and its rich volcanic activity.

The first tools and weapons were made of minerals.

In the passage of millennia they were used as amulets.

They were found in graves and ancient temples, since they were used as religious symbols.

They constituted symbols of wealth and power.

They were worn as jewellery.

Kings’ crowns, rings, necklaces and bracelets with elaborate binding have been saved until today, worthy of admiration for their construction technique centuries ago!

Everywhere in the world ornaments of amazing beauty are saved, made of stones and crystals, sealing the aesthetics and culture of each civilisation, regardless of the period it prospered.

The ancient Egyptians and Greeks made medicine and cosmetics out of minerals.

They also used them as make up.

Some of these minerals are toxic, with whatever consequences this entails for the organism…

Marble, limestone and other minerals were used by the ancient Egyptians to construct imposing statues.

Those discovered constitute an attraction in modern era for the inhabitants from all over the world.

Superior quality marble and copper were the selections of Ancient Greeks!

The whole Parthenon, a world symbol of culture and art, was constructed with marble from Penteli.

Today, in the modern era, crystals and minerals play a crucial role in industry and daily life.

Watch making industry uses quartz in precision watches.

It is necessary for the exact measurement of time!

Crystal quartz, lapis lapis lazuli, amber, turquoise, carnelian, sardonyx and marble are only a few of the favourite stones of ancient civilisations, who honoured them in their daily life in each way!…

Silver, gold, iron, copper was the reason of many wars and some of these metals were the materials weapons were constructed in order to carry out the wars.

Besides, it is not a coincidence that some periods of humanity bear their name, such as the Bronze Age and the Iron Age.

Minerals and crystals accompany the course of man through the passage of time until today… And this course continues!!!
